Well, it is loss of editing, since busybox vi, unlike, say, vim, does not create intermediate save files. Indeed, that's not a loss of original file, just the editing changes in current session. But the issue is entirely different, it isn't in vi applet to start with, as I stated in a followup email, -- I misinterpreted it initially.
