Thank you for checking this.

A 'manual configuration' would mean the hardware configuration becomes
fixed/rigid.  The preferred method is for autodetection by udev, which
allows hot-plug/unplug of devices like keyboard/mouse, or detection of
extra displays.

If someone else can reproduce the problem you had, I am sure they will
report it.
