Never underestimate the fragility of the boot-floppies code base.  There is
a reason this stuff is at end of life.

That said, I'm inclined to agree that it's at least worth trying it out to see
what happens, so long as we are convinced the patch can't break things for
other people.  There can't be _that_ many places where exact pathnames are so
important.
