Package: installation-reports Boot method - hd-media Image version - /daily-images/amd64/daily/hd-media for 29 Dec, 2011 Date - December 29, 2011
Machine - HP dx5150 with AMD Athlon 64, 1024 MB memory Partitions - Single 16GB space on memory stick. Base System Installation Checklist - NA - Had a kernel panic before I go that far. It looks like the root file system could not be mounted. I wanted to load the latest testing image onto one of my computers and decided to use a memory stick. I bought a new 16 GB stick and reformatted as per the debian instructions in the HOWTO ie cfdisk - made one 16 GB partition and made it bootable mkdosfs syslinux - this is the syslinux that was on my system used to create the bootable memory stick mounted memory stick loaded vmlinuz and initrd.gz wrote syslinux.cfg as specified load on the iso image - debian-testing-amd64-i386-netinst.iso Memory stick booted okay but was unable to mount root file system, due to a kernel panic, error report as below panic+0x95/0x1a5 maint_block_root+0x24e/027a name_to_dev_t+0x7c9/0xe99 prepare_namespace+0x133/0x169 kernel_init+0x138/0x13d kernel_thread_helper+0x4/0x10 start_kernel+0x3c8/0x3c8 gs_change_0x13/0x13 Since this is the first time I have tried this, I may have overlooked something and will continue checking my work and reading the available documentation. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
