Hi, As subject says, maybe this issue is tied to APT/fakeroot bug#630591?
For d-shlibs I found a workaround of "fakeroot apt-cache ..." by replacing with "fakeroot apt-cache --no-generate ..." which is supported at least as far back as Lenny.
