The boot-floppies i386 kernels does not include framebuffer support as far as 
I know.

It (dedicated danish boot-floppies) worked fine with latin1 until recently. I 
think it broke around the time we changed to unstable slang1-utf8 and 
slang-utf8-pic, which sounds reasonable.
