Partition hard drives: [O] Manual partitioning
Install base system: [O]

User/password setup: [O]
Install tasks: [O]
Install boot loader: [O]
Overall install: [O]
Comments/Problems:
-No problems
-Installation took 3h due to downloads
<Description of the install, in prose, and any thoughts, comments
and ideas you had during the initial install.>
-I would prefer to download a CD or a DVD with some basic packages in
it, instead of having to download them at installation time (it took
3h to complete). Of course, I can download all the DVDs... but it is
too much. Take Ubuntu as example.
- I know that my PC is not compatible with new kernels (2.6.35
family). Pay attention to your releases (if you choose that kernel).
Have a good day,
SK

You can use the available CDs and DVDs without having to download them all,
it's excellent when you have to make several installations.
Downloading only what you need has the benefit to avoid unused packages - and
it's an advantage over any generic CD/DVD.
For only a basic/customized set of packages you can install the standard task
and then add only what you need with a package management tool such as
aptitude.
[...]
Thanks for giving back on your installation experience.
Closing as it was a successful installation.
