Comments/Problems:
Much better !
Squeeze beta 2 would not install - Configure network failed with:
wlan0: deauthenticating from 00:0f:b5:1b:2c:84 by local choice
(reason=3)
With 1-Jan-11 overnight build: authentication is successful;
link stays up as long as it is busy but goes down if idle long enough,
like while software is being installed
running Detect network card / Configure network again brings WLAN
back up
so grub can be downloaded and installed.
<Description of the install, in prose, and any thoughts, comments
and ideas you had during the initial install.>
a) LXDE desktop - no network manager, start wpa etc by hand OK.
Install network-manager and network-manager-gnome.
Reboot ... with p54pci device no WLAN:
wlan0: deauthenticating from 00:0f:b5:1b:2c:84 by local choice
(reason=3)
Reboot with zd1211rw instead ... recognised as wlan1 ... WLAN
connection OK.
After
sudo /etc/init.d/network-manager stop
sudo killall wpa
able to start WLAN by hand, both wlan0 and wlan1.
b) KDE desktop - network manager already installed ... no WLAN ...
wlan0: deauthenticating from 00:0f:b5:1b:2c:84 by local choice
(reason=3)
But after
sudo /etc/init.d/network-manager stop
sudo killall wpa
able to start WLAN by hand.
Command used to start WLAN by hand:
wpa_supplicant -B -c/etc/wpa-psk-tkip.conf -iwlan0
Contents of /etc/wpa-psk-tkip.conf
ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
network={
ssid="Custards"
key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
proto=WPA
pairwise=TKIP
group=TKIP
psk=****************************************************************
}
Network manager worked with lenny and has worked with earlier squeeze
update / installation trials. What is wrong now ?
Is this a network manager issue ?
If so, where should I report it ?
What information should I provide ?
