It's an old bug, the ath5k driver has apparently been extensively rewritten, and now (apparently) works like mac80211-based drivers. Given that I've tested installation on a machine which uses one of these drivers (iwl3945), it seems like this bug has probably been tidied up at some point (either by changes in netcfg, or driver improvements).
