The localization is quite well handled by the German l10n team. Alpha1
might have some gaps but, for that version, we didn't set a strict
l10n freeze and, indeed, few languages are complete.

I'd say: subscribe to debian-booot, follow discussions, look at
install reports. A good help is having installation reports followed
up (we often had periods in D-I development where they were completly
neglected).

Watch us on debian-boot for a while before jumping up in threads,
though. Particularly, when processing install reports, there are
tricks about the various images that don't always make obvious to give
users the right suggestions.

Testing D-I yourself is also a good thing to do. For many things a
simple virtual machine in Virtualbox or Qemu is enough.... So you can
play with various things in D-I....and even later try to triage bug
reports in the various D-I components.
