This bug more belongs to the X server than the installer itself. Hence reassigning so that the concerned maintainers can (hopefully...they're overloaded) deal with it. Please provide the content of /var/log/Xorg.0.log. I'm unsure whether that'll be enough and Xorg maintainers may need you to provide more information...
