Both the mini.iso you mentioned and the most recent businesscard.iso
in "expert" mode ran without incident to the point where it wanted to
partition the disk. I did not allow it to go any further, since I had
useful stuff on the disk and I figured the problem would have occurred
much earlier than that if it was still present.
I'm closing this bug
Thanks!

Sorry, Rick, for not coming back to you earlier about this
installation report you filed back in Sept 2009.
Since you reported this, some things changed quite deeply in D-I,
including wrt firmware loading.
Would you mind testing a more recent image such as
http://d-i.debian.org/daily-images/powerpc/daily/powerpc/netboot/mini.iso?
Quoting Rick Thomas (rbtho...@pobox.com):
I'll be happy to.
Do you specifically want the "mini.iso"? Or would "buisnesscard" do
just as well?
If I don't hear back I'll try both.
Trying both is fine..:-)
The mini.iso has the advantage of being the one where the most udebs
are downloaded off the net. Indeed, the result between the
businesscard and the netboot images is pretty much the same,
though....but I'm now used to suggest people to try the netboot image
