Package: console-setup Version: 1.30 Severity: normal After switching to X and back, the console setup does not persist: the font reverts back, and non-ASCII characters such as line-drawing characters become incorrect.
One easy way to reproduce this: - Run whiptail --msgbox hello 20 20 - Observe the line-drawing characters surrounding the dialog box. - Switch to X. - Switch back to the console. - Observe the garbage characters that have replaced the line-drawing characters. - Josh Triplett -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.29-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages console-setup depends on: ii console-terminus 4.26-2.1 Fixed-width fonts for fast reading ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.26 Debian configuration management sy ii xkb-data 1.5-2 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu Versions of packages console-setup recommends: ii kbd 1.15-1 Linux console font and keytable ut Versions of packages console-setup suggests: ii locales 2.9-7 GNU C Library: National Language ( ii lsb-base 3.2-22 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
