Comments/Problems:
        manual partitioning went well, it knew what i wanted before i did!
additional repositories supplied needed software ,flash,java. i like
the stability of debian, other distribution were not always so stable,
i like that many distributions are derived from debian. 
         there is  a learning curve. thanks, john
