The debian installer of Lenny refuses to use the encrypted partitions as / and so it's impossible to continue with installation. No problems with the installer of Etch. You need to use the "Configure encrypted volumes" before going to the "Finish partitioning" step. Doing so will indeed tell you that your swap area is not encrypted and this is not safe..:-) --
