Machine: Dell Dimension E521 Processor: AMD64 X2 Dual core (2GHz) Memory: 2G Partitions: 1 partition containing Windows Vista (planned to let the debian installation process shrink it and create the new for debian; plan to use the system as dual boot) Output of lspci -nn and lspci -vnn: N/A Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Initial boot: [ ] Detect network card: [ ] Configure network: [ ] Detect CD: [ ] Load installer modules: [ ] Detect hard drives: [ ] Partition hard drives: [ ] Install base system: [ ] Clock/timezone setup: [ ] User/password setup: [ ] Install tasks: [ ] Install boot loader: [ ] Overall install: [E] Comments/Problems: I downloaded the .iso file directly into the CD burner program (I am using roxio which came with the system). I changed the boot order so the system would boot from the CD drive. I restarted the system. As expected, it booted from the CD. The debian logo appears, with the option to get help or continue. I pressed <Enter> to let the installation start. The following happens: - A few .gz files (two I believe) are uncompressed. - I get about 2 screenfulls of messages which are obviously part of the boot process. I would gladly send them to you, but I don't know how to save them. As far as I can see, nothing looks suspicious. - The installation hangs. The last message I see is io scheduler cfq registered (default) I tried using the gui and expert installations and the same happens (except that in the gui case't see the output to the terminal). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
