The woody install documentation says its in the compact floppy set but it is not. The kernel-config for the compact set for both woody and testing says its compiled in yet I don't see any attempt of it trying to init durring boot. The kernel-config for the standard set (not the 'safe', 'udma*' or 'compact' sets) says that it's was modularized at compile time yet there is no module for it after booting to those floppies. This is before I get a chance to load the drivers-* disk set. I tried searching for and downloading a dac960.o module for the 2.2.19 kernel that testing boots from but the module fails to load. Not sure if it's even a module compiled for i386 ... I found it via ftpsearch.ntnu.no and it came from some slackware dist. Some of the paths state alpha but I didn't d/l from one that had that path. Shouldn't the Debian boot floppy archive have the modules that were compiled with the kernel available for download? This way we can load the modules when the install prompts that there isn't any hard disks and wants to load the module from floppy. Is there someplace else we can get the modules? Am I supposed to be tackling this in another fassion? Thanks in advance. - Ken --------------------------------------- Received: (at 106058-done) by bugs.debian.org; 26 Jul 2001 02:05:13 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Jul 25 21:05:13 2001 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from arroz.onshored.com [::ffff:216.220.101.2] by master.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.12 1 (Debian)) id 15PaWX-0000BJ-00; Wed, 25 Jul 2001 21:05:13 -0500 Received: from arroz.onshored.com (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by arroz.onshored.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 70A2393808 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Wed, 25 Jul 2001 22:05:46 -0400 (EDT) Sender: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: Subject: Re: Processed: Re: Processed: Re: Bug#106058: debian-boot lack Mylex DAC960 support References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Organization: onShore Development, Inc From: Adam Di Carlo <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: 25 Jul 2001 22:05:46 -0400 In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Lines: 19 User-Agent: Gnus/5.0808 (Gnus v5.8.8) Emacs/20.7 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Herbert Xu <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: > > > reassign 106058 kernel-image-2.2.19-compact > > Bug#106058: debian-boot lack Mylex DAC960 support > > Bug reassigned from package `boot-floppies' to `kernel-image-2.2.19-compact'. > > The compact flavour has DAC960 compiled in. Well, we use that, so I guess this bug is closable! Bug submitter, I would suggest your bug is probably caused by incorrect kernel arguments. Please check kernel boot output (use 'dmesg' or see tty4), read the driver documentation, the Linux boot args HOWTO, etc. Thanks, sorry you were shuffled around. -- .....Adam Di [EMAIL PROTECTED]<URL:http://www.onshored.com/> -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
