I did try the standard remedies - testing CDF readability, rewriting on another blank CD and setting ide=nodma - they have failed. But after a lot of googling, I set libata.pata_dma=1 and this succeeded. Strangely, one of the first lines on teh screen said that this option is unknown and "ignoring" - but nevertheless it worked. (The line was only on the screen briefly). Perhaps this should be in the FAQ? (The LVM issue I reported for beta2 is fixed in the daily. Sorry for hitting Send prematurely on that one). -- Yours, Mikhail Ramendik -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
