I am sorting old bug reports and the issue you described as been tagged "unreproducible". This means that no developers managed to reproduce this issue on their own computers. Geert-Jan and Henry, if you still have access to the hardware on which you encountered this problem, could you please download and test a recent debian-installer image (netboot mini.iso will be enough) and tell us if the wrong interface is still selected?
