move some i386 and alpha cruft into it's proper crufty place; rework
the generic rootdisk handling quite a bit (seems to work on sparc now,
at least) -- set generic_rootdisk and generic_rootdisk_no_wildcard for
non-sparc, non-i386 arches which use a single rootdisk please; remove
some unnecessary divergance from generic rules
