Package: boot-floppies
Version: N/A
Severity: normal
Hello,
I have installed Debian 2.2 on an old Pentium 75 with an NE 2000 ISA
card.
I didn't want to build a special kernel for the installation : this
machine has no special hardware excepted this completely standard card...
With boot-floppies 2.2.20.0.1 and idepci disks (same with compact), the
8390.o module is in the /target/lib/modules/2.2.18pre21-idepci/pcmcia
directory.
Thus it does not appear during selection of modules in the net subdirectory,
and I had to insmod it manually to have my card working... (and add it
manually to /target/etc/modules).
After install, all went fine until dbootstrap asked me if it should remove
the pcmcia package, and he removed /lib/modules/2.2.18xxx/pcmcia !
I had to get an 8390.o from drivers.tgz and copy it to
/lib/modules/2.2.18xxx/net BEFORE rebooting to keep a working network
card...
The problem is the same with WD network cards that depends on 8390.o, too...
Hoping someone will find a solution,
Keep up the good work !
