a word on this, for people who are playing with cdebconf:

cdebconf now recognizes the DEBCONF_DEBUG environment variable. Unlike
the perl version this one is numeric, see common.h for some debug levels
(the INFO_* #define's). 

Turning it up to 5 or more will give you the much loved debconf
transaction output, i.e.

--> INPUT low foo/bar
<-- 0 OK

etc
