I believe, you missed two things (as you did not say that you had read the
README file (the one called utilities/bogl/README.BOGL-bterm :))
LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8
The part before '.' is not important (unless you have messages for this very
locale), the important part is 'UTF-8'.
The second thing is
LD_PRELOAD=libutf8_plug.so
This one is a bit more difficult. :) You should either get it where README
file points to, or get bf-utf package (where I put it).
If my supposition is wrong (you actually read the README file :), then I'd need
more information to help you get it working.
