I suggest a new option being made; "copy kernel-image to [specific] partition". Background: I have a laptop, which can hold either a floppy or CD-ROM drive - only one at a time. Because I decided to install Debian on a partition that LILO was unable to reach, my only choice was to make a boot disk. Now, there was no floppy drive in the computer - and I couldn't swap the CD-ROM drive while the computer is on. I had to reinstall the system - this time first copying all Debian packages from the CD to the DOS partition first, then using floppy to boot and install Debian. If there was an option - "Copy kernel-image to partition" - I could simply (after having installed Debian) install loadlin in the DOS partition and use that to boot Linux. Since manual interaction and understanding of the boot process is required anyway, it's acceptable to copy the kernel from the rescue disk to the hd manuelly. Regards, Joey -- This is Linux Country.
