Hi Michael and okul, I have difficulties reproducing this bug. Nevertheless we haven't forgotton about it and are keen on fixing it. There was some discussion about the reason for the described misbehaviour. As a result, I have built an experimental root.bin ramdisk that may fix the problem. I'd love you to try it out and tell me the result. The root.bin is found at: http://master.debian.org/~joey/NMU/root-61534.bin It's smaller than 1.44MB but should be usable anyway.
