Problem is, the linux-headers-amd64 and linux-image-amd64
packages are not versioned, AFAICT.

yeah, bookworm-backports version of linux-image-amd64 should install last backported version of amd64 kernel

But with backports you must _explicitly_ install the backport version of those metapackages.
