Package: firefox Version: 98.0-2 Severity: important Tags: upstream patch Forwarded: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1757571 X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-arm@lists.debian.org
Hello, I'm running Debian unstable with XFCE on an arm64 chromebook (rk3399-gru-kevin). Firefox could no longer draw a browser window when I upgraded it to version 98. Process manager programs show Firefox and its child processes are running, but nothing user-visible happens. Downgrading to 96.0.3-1 works, but since there's a downgrade protection on profiles I also had to run 'firefox --allow-downgrade' to get it to use my profile. That's discouraged that as it might cause data loss (bookmarks, history etc.), and it's hard to discover when your browser isn't working. Seems to be an already-reported upstream bug [1]. An Ubuntu maintainer tracked it down to a crossbeam upgrade and has a workaround patch in a “PPA for Ubuntu Mozilla Security Team” [2], hope that's helpful here as well (so I tagged as 'patch').
