I use 2.4GHz networking, as I have several devices which cannot use 5GHz. And I cannot confirm what you mention. Screenshot provided with the same image I used yesterday. If you don't want to open an attached image (I often avoid to): Kernel 5.10.0-3-arm64, specified my wlan details in /etc/network/interfaces.d/wlan0, and got a working network. Greetings,
