Hi,

How difficult would it be support the Synology NAS DS-213j in Debian? The device has a Marvell Armada 370/XP SoC which is supported by the mainline Kernel. The CPU is single core and has a hardware floating point unit. Is this CPU supported by the armhf Debian port and what needs to be done to support this device directly by the Debian installer?

Regards,
Alexander

Hi Alexander,

I am thinking of replacing my slug (NSLU2) with a Synology
Diskstation DS213j, which was recently released. I would like to
install Debian wheezy and I am currently not sure if the device will
 be recognised by the installer.

No, it won't be recognized by the installer. Unfortuntely, every new
ARM devices requires some special code.

If this is not the case yet, would you be interested to help me
adopting the installer? The DS213j has a Marvell Kirkwood ARM cpu

My time is quite limited these days but if you send an email to the
debian-arm list I'm sure someone will be able to assist.

I have the slug running with Debian for 5 years now and would like to
thank you for making this possible.

No problem.
