I got OMV (Fedaykin) NAS working on the SS4000E using a custom kernel
(3.4.1+GPIO+fancontrol patches). The main difficulties were rejigging the
Flash layout to accommodate the new larger kernel that OMV install writes
and satisfying some unmet dependencies which necessitated building some
packages locally.

It works but the downsides seems to be that 1) OMV reserves all of one disk
to itself and thus I'm left with only 3 usable disks and 2) OMV doesn't
monitor disk health, fan speed, system voltages or drive the LEDS in
response.

Anyone else got a better suggestion for a free armel NAS?

Chris
