There's an interesting little 100 EUR/130 AUSD NAS being sold by Aldi (Australia and Germany, so far), see thread http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1817691 and the specs on http://www.mikrocontroller.net/articles/P89626
Anyone here got one so far, and if yes, what is your estimate of chances hacking the thing completely wide open, maybe via the http://zyxel.nas-central.org/wiki/Debian_without_need_to_flash method? We do have root access out of the box (via telnet backdoor), the firmware is a close derivate of Zyxel's, there is a package system, somebody already cross-compiled a working rsync. I'm thinking an approach like http://www.lowendbox.com/blog/wordpress-cheap-vps-lowendscript/ would create a very useful system with the available 128 MByte, which is a bit on the low side (but there's a swap file on the 1.5 TByte SATA disk). -- Eugen* Leitl leitl http://leitl.org ______________________________________________________________ ICBM: 48.07100, 11.36820 http://www.ativel.com http://postbiota.org 8B29F6BE: 099D 78BA 2FD3 B014 B08A 7779 75B0 2443 8B29 F6BE -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-arm-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
