Yes, well, sort of. I started getting crashes when I upgraded from 2.4.16 to 2.4.19, but couldn't tell what was causing it. Could well have been a network problem.
I haven't tried any more recent kernels. Unfortunately, this means that the netwinder is not secure... :-( I'll upgrade to sarge soon and report back on newer kernels.
