A while back I apt-get upgraded apt-get (to 0.3.19 I think) and it went SEGV. Somewhat annoying. In the end I complied my own at -g -O (I think) and that didn't SEGV. Currently I have apt 0.3.19 for arm compiled on Aug 19 2000 17:52:40 which appears to be the same date as the version in a source tree that I still seem to have in ~ I don't think I mentioned any of this at the time. Also compiling various development versions of perl has generated SEGVs, and other problems, usually solvable by using gcc more recent than gcc version 2.95.2 20000220 (Debian GNU/Linux) Nicholas Clark
