OK, now apache starts while mod_perl is enabled.  Thank you.

Is it a _bug_ that apt did *not* warn me about a dependency issue for
libapache-mod-perl v1.27-4?

When I did this:

   apt-get install apache=1.3.29.0.1-2

then, apt warned me about also upgrading apache-common.

What do you think?
