I hope you meant bash (not dash) in the above, otherwise it will not help.
Better if they meant the #!/bin/SHELL was corrected in the programs
themselves, then the code complies with whatever shell they've chosen.
Then there would be no need to adjust where /bin/sh or anything points
to .... all they'll need is to make sure such shell was available on the
target system.
