Well it's an ATI chipset, so well, not surprising. There was some recent patches on the kernel mailing list dealing with SATA issues on the SB600. I don't remember if they are in 2.6.20 or will go in 2.6.21. Usually having to set the bios to anything other than native SATA/enhanced/whatever they call the setting that does no emulation, is not a good sign of having the right working drivers.
