Well, there's been lots of talk about it, personally I think Ubuntu is a good thing and benefits Debian. You might want to read Ian Murdock's blog posts about it, it's interesting even if it doesn't directly affect you. I use both Debian and Ubuntu, but prefer Ubuntu on machines where I want or need newer software and that rapid Ubuntu release cycle - but don't want to run testing or unstable, e.g. my Thinkpad.
