I just built the 2.6.11 kernel.org kernel using just 'time make' with
the gcc-3.4 dist:
real 2m40.477s
user 2m20.923s
sys 0m18.999s
I just added a gcc-3.4 dist to a spare partition by copying a sarge dist
and then upgrading. This is gcc-4.0-pre7 with libc-2.3.4. I used the
custom 2.6.11 kernel again to build this kernel. I disabled the radeonfb
because of errors in the i2c.h probably because of gcc-4.0. This is now
a normal installation and times anybody can achieve with similar
hardware.
Oliver, there is usually a delay between new hardware and the drivers
needed to use the new chips. There is nothing to do here except wait
or trade the ATI chipset board for a supported board.
