No, there isn't such a option IMHO. But maybe the following works: 1. Press Alt+F2 to run a command. 2. Insert the following: orca -r --speech-system speechdispatcherfactory Orca stores all preferences for a user in the ~/.local/share/orca directory. If you want to reset Orca to its defaults just remove this directory, press Alt+F2 and insert orca -r If this should be done automaticaly and without a running screen reader just write a little script and configure a keyboard shortcut to run this script if its necessary from every where in Mate.
