Well, for that to happen, possibly discussion needs to happen with MATE people. Possibly they are not aware of the particular problem that you have, and the problem only happens to be fixed in testing because upstream fixed the issue, but that fix won't magically propagate itself to stable. For instance, you could determine which package exactly needs to be upgraded to fix the issue, that'd help a lot to know where the bug is. Samuel
