Hi I have some not so powerful edlerly but reliable notebook, with only 2 Gbyte of RAM. debian 9.7, lightdm, mate all stable
Usually I delete the software for disabled persons in the installation process, as I do not want SW which is not in use. Recently I noted frequent crashes of x applications and sluggish response of keyboard and mouse, especially if RAM is fully used up and swap File is in use. Also an incredible delay when shutting down the notebook. so I decided to comment out the Exec statements in grep Exec /etc/xdg/autostart/at-spi-dbus-bus.desktop #Exec=/usr/lib/at-spi2-core/at-spi-bus-launcher --launch-immediately grep Exec /usr/lib/systemd/user/at-spi-dbus-bus.service #ExecStart=/usr/lib/at-spi2-core/at-spi-bus-launcher Now I have less crashes better response and fast shutdown again within a few seconds. System runs better.
