Of course, I meant to type:
I need to stop ESPEAK while the computer is on and running.  Then run
emacspeak in console (not terminal as there is no X graphics) which has
speakup running inside emacs.  Use emacspeak, then upon exiting emacspeak,
restarting espeak so that it runs in console.

Is there something I can do?

Spell check doesn't know about espeak I guess.
