I just tried to help with Launchpad bug 1684280¹ and I tried the following commands: paul@testavoira ~ $ /usr/bin/espeak -v mb-us3 "Hello world" paul@testavoira ~ $ /usr/bin/espeak-ng -v mb-us3 "Hello world" The first one speaks the words "Hello world" in a clear voice. However, the second command just creates a pinch (I don't know how to describe it better). Without the voice, the result is fine: paul@testavoira ~ $ /usr/bin/espeak-ng "Hello world" Paul ¹ https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1684280 - -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.0 APT prefers testing-debug APT policy: (500, 'testing-debug'), (500, 'testing'), (200, 'experimental'), (200, 'testing'), (50, 'experimental'), (50, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages espeak-ng depends on: ii libc6 2.24-9 ii libespeak-ng1 1.49.0+dfsg-9 ii libpcaudio0 1.0-1 ii libsonic0 0.2.0-4+b1 espeak-ng recommends no packages. espeak-ng suggests no packages. - -- no debconf information -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQEzBAEBCAAdFiEEWLZtSHNr6TsFLeZynFyZ6wW9dQoFAlj5/bMACgkQnFyZ6wW9 dQrhdQf/cQ/yXuwFWxiJ2gSQBIqjvYGREqW+087RK/TGBMMf3spw+nUkdFNgb1oV 3w2i+dW4dd4apFi+mYCpAQgG0Sh4BJFiq2TNBDgdYqf7z6duLHXxksYGURfLpDh/ eg7MjLnJFc8S14jsPpRM8C8m2pMQ3S/yoFdKdzrbbwXozBqaOKzsWVveUSDtp2ia 0ybARvj23ippvTy804YRL71jZvyEClu2v/F98BBmYZMCrKX3+Ax5ivmzMc9Z3lGv 8ALF+C0ImeEX0jCAlnr2KtsacEjet7+XjkEXVljdEen9otgxC0JrT0TGsBBw2M7Y e5u73AUMC1bIdFI9vqsSYG9KlnNdFA== =2fJa -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
