I have actually successfully booted an older image of elgar
in WinUAE without any problems. WinUAE has had MMU support
for a while now.

The only thing I haven't had any success yet was mounting
WinUAE HD images on Linux to be able to debbootstrap into
a Linux partition in the image to install a current
version of unstable.
