Neither, nor (see the other mail): it first creates a skeleton
and then uses the Kconfig dependencies and default values to
fill in the blanks.

(2.6.12-3.4.1), contains almost all kernel
binaries ever uploaded to the archives.

I made some hacks I never uploaded, but these
were not always properly made anyway.
