We should definitely try that.
(I seem to recall that RHEL sets this by default.)
Generating an NMI might be another approach for remote reboot --
# sysctl -a | grep panic
error: permission denied on key 'net.ipv4.route.flush'
kernel.panic = 0
kernel.panic_on_oops = 0
kernel.unknown_nmi_panic = 0
kernel.panic_on_unrecovered_nmi = 0
kernel.panic_on_io_nmi = 0
vm.panic_on_oom = 0
All good - now how do we generate a NMI - by software?
