I am also tagging this bug "help" as I am waiting a patch from the m68k
porters to support thread local storage, as already asked on the
debian-m68k mailing list.

As far as I know, only two places in glibc 2.5 require __thread:
inet/inet_ntoa.c and malloc/memusage.c

The "fix" for first one could be based on http://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2006-10/msg00070.html
the "fix" for second one is already in debian package
as any/local-__thread.diff.

So it still might be possible to build glibc 2.5
even without thread local storage support on m68k.

May be job for aranym to test this idea?
