Just an info which is probably not that widely known:
Sign languages are quite local, so in ZA people speak SASL (South African Sign
Language).
Foreign hearing impaired people trained in say ASL (American Sign Language) or
DGS (Deutsche Gebärdensprache - German Sign Language) will have a hard time
understanding an interpreter. Similarly to hearing people spoken to in language
they may grasp a foreign word or two off each sentence but not more.
So such an interpreter would be very useful if (and only if) local South
African hearing impaired people are joining us for (probably) open weekend.
