Yes, though some attendees have liked having the dinner/whatever other social event on a separate day. (Certainly where we've had a fancy dinner at the end of a day trip day, some attendees didn't like the combination.) If buses are needed to reach the proposed meal venue, it's more efficient to combine that with day trip travel, but it may cause greater overall happiness to have two separate things on different days, with the social event venue reached on foot.
