Hi debconf-team, As you might have heard, there were some comments made on IRC about anonymous people providing monetary support for DebConf in LeCamp. It was even mistaken as Sponsor money in some discussions. Unfortunately this has been communicated before the details of such a deal have been negotiated.
I was asked by h01ger to take care of this issue and to discuss with them what their intentions are and how we should handle it legally. It's now clear that they only wanted to provide DebConf with liquidity to pay for the first 2 installments and to get their money back as soon as we get the money from our sponsors. This also has a financial risk for them and I want to thank them for their generous offer, but this arrangement will not proceed. >From a budget POV this is not relevant anyway and should not be included in any budget discussions as we could also get this money from a Debian trusted organisation like debian.ch if we can provide a balanced and realistic budget. The main concern should be the overall size of the budget that we commit ourselves to by signing a contract, and whether the income and expenses balance. Liquidity issues should be handled and discussed separately. Best regards, Philipp Hug Treasurer DebConf13 association _______________________________________________ Debconf-team mailing list Debconf-team@lists.debconf.org http://lists.debconf.org/mailman/listinfo/debconf-team
